Hoyle wins WSSNC Award
The current SCAPMS President, Steve Hoyle, was presented the WSSNC Distinguished Service Award at 22nd Annual Meeting of the Weed Science Society of North Carolina (WSSNC) held in Raleigh, March 11th 2004. The award is presented each year to the member who has worked to advance the scientific study of weed management in North Carolina. He is an Agricultural Research Technician in the Crop Science Department at NC State University. Hoyle is credited with discovering two new weed species in NC. An aquatic fern, giant salvinia and a dayflower species, tropical spiderwort, both listed as Federal Noxious Weeds. He also maintains several web sites related to weed management in NC and serves on the Board of Directors of WSSNC. Hoyle has participated in numerous Regional and National scientific meetings.
